"Way back Wednesday"

Going way back with this one to my first ever horror/scary movie.

This was the first movie that I can at least remember watching as a kid and my first introduction to horror/scary movies. We would make it a nightly event when on TV or when someone was daring enough to rent it. We would go all out with snacks, drinks and all other great stuff we would pick up at a corner store down the street we grew up on that just happen to be named Elm St.

Been closed now for years
but if you walked in with $5 you came out with snacks to last you a week...or at least a few hours.

Most of these post are going to be short and to the point....sorry but at least it will give you time to go and check out more awesome blogs at http://countdowntohalloween.blogspot.com/ and also check back here for other cool stuff to come all month long.

X-Ray Vision for $1

Remember seeing those ads in your old comics, the ones that offered cool toys for almost nothing, only to get a NO as soon as you pointed to the ad when asking your parents for money, then wondering what it would've been like to have that awesome toy? Well there is this cool guy that put together a book that will answer that question and more, its called "Mail-Order Mysteries" and I have to say that this book is AWESOME!

This was one of my favorites to read about. I was always curious about what would actually be sent to who ever ordered something like this. I would've had a blast as a kid if I had one of these.

There are also some secrets revealed about some of the items that were offered, like this "100pc Toy Soldier Set". The ad description was a bit flat...sorry, had to.

Oh and you can't forget the original that everyone can say that they wanted, the amazing "X-Ray Spex". Every young boy that saw these knew that they had to get them for one reason and one reason only...to see what was inside those Birthday or Christmas gifts...you thought it was going to be something else huh.. don't lie you know you thought it.

I had a hard time putting this book down there is so much great stuff in this book I had fun reading this and promise that you will to although I made myself stop reading from time to time because I didn’t want it to end.

Special Thanks to Kirk Demarais for the OK to write this. Want to know more about him and his work head over to SecretFunSpot.com you can find links to his other sites.

Oh and check out his short film "FLIP"

I'm Still Here Everyone.

I haven't had much interesting stuff happen lately that is worth sharing other than thinking of wither I should renew my web address www.nostalgicmemories.us or change it. Well more because I don’t know if I can afford it and it’s cheaper to pay for another one.

Well that is all that has really been going on, I will try and post more for those of you that follow this blog.
Thanks

"Look at the lights Christmas time is here"

"Look at the lights"

Christmas time is here and it's going to be a whole new experience for us because it will be our little ones first Christmas and because it's her first we are doing all that Christmas stuff together.....kind of.....well she was asleep when we put up the tree....and also when we put up the lights, but she was awake when we took her to go see Santa!

I think I experienced my first parent/dad issue waiting in line to see Santa if you could've just seen my face when we reached the front of the line I was a nervous wreck, all the other kids that took pictures with him were laughing and having a good time and I knew that we would be the ones with the child that cried when seeing Santa and about to reenact the scene from A Christmas Story when Randy freaks out.

ME: what if see cries?
Wife: um no.
Me: what if see sees his face and freaks out?
Wife: she won’t
Me: but…
Wife: she will be fine.

"You can just see the excitement in her face"

And she was, as you can see in the picture she kind of didn’t care much about the bearded man in a red suit.

I really don't know how to end this so...yeah "Merry Christmas"

"I'm the baby"

It’s funny how a child can change you, it’s not just that you grow up because you are now responsible for a human life but this child has made me a baby myself. Before I go on there will be Halloween in this post I promise, I find that every time I see a newborn I quickly think he or she is just adorable and that is not a word I use regularly or was ever in my vocabulary, also I find myself fighting back tears with every video I watch of a baby or young child in it...gosh huh…..wait “gosh” where did that come from.

But I will also do anything for this child…anything. When we watched the first episode of The Walking Dead there was a scene where a bad guy had a baby by the neck and threatened to harm her. I had the worst feeling on that scene and I swear that I would have done something bad to that guy I mean I was angry, sad, felt hopeless and it was just a TV show but if you have read my blog you know how much I get into movies and shows.

Then there is this…

I wasted no time painting my daughters bum so that my wife could make a bumpkin out of it. See this is in the Halloween spirit, even though I used my daughter as the butt of this joke…get it. HA HA.

We even attempted to take pictures of her in a pumpkin patch but this was the best that we could get out of her, she was more entertained by the grass as it was the first time that she felt it between her toes. I will say this, she kicked the crap out of the grass and we all had fun.

Oh and Daddy made that bow....yup!
